The end of 2016 also meant the end of the NSW Solar Bonus Scheme.
For households with solar systems this meant changing their metering system from a gross meter to a net meter, allowing them to consume energy needed to run household appliances and export excess power to the grid. Some of our customers have chosen to install digital smart meters to track their energy usage and try to further reduce their electricity bills.
Now the feed-in tariff for any power exported to the grid has reverted back to the un-subsidised rate nominated by your electricity retailer it is a good idea to try and use as much solar power as you can to cater for your household's energy needs. This might mean creating some new habits for the New Year! For example, turning the dishwasher on during the day instead of during the evening and so on.
The Department of Resources and Energy has developed some great fact sheets to ensure you remain informed and get the most value out of your Solar PV System as you can.
